Vasto Arts Workshops

Vasto Arts Workshops

Art associations, artist collectives, individual artists:

Via the Vasto Arts Workshop, you will spend your days painting alongside experienced art instructors, all local working artists with whom to talk, discuss, exchange ideas.

Creating art is our focus.

Studios are open all day, but participants, in fact, workshop with instructors 3 hours a day for five days – or ten days for the two week sessions. These may be in the studio, or plein air. See below for Faculty.

On your so-called off-time, participants may choose to work in the studio or wander about, discover and choose their favorite corner wherein to observe, sketch, paint, or simply live.

-Painting Classes are typically from Monday to Friday, 9 -12, or in the afternoon between 4 – 7 pm.

-Pottery/Ceramics are from Monday to Friday 4,30 – 7,30 pm.

Should the one or two weeks be insufficient, you may also choose to EXTEND your stay, work independently, or seek further private tuition. Query for rates.

NOTA BENE: Should you be an Art Teacher, Art Collective or Art Association, and would like to lead or bring a Group of your own, we can help with all the details and local logistics. Please contact me with any questions you might have.

Independent Artists may wish to stay at:

Vasto Arts Workshops are intense workshops wherein participants work alongside local Italian artists/instructors in the seaside town of Vasto (Abruzzo).

The aim of our organization is to bring local and visiting artists together and provide a Platform and setting to create, live and share their art and ideas on art.

And life – while enjoying the local sights, food and wine.

Our aim, too, is to provide proof to local administrators and entrepreneurs that the creative industry is, indeed, a viable and vital economic model which, alas, is much neglected.

Art moves people. Art moves ideas. Art shifts economies. And creates opportunities for those directly involved. And for those standing on the sidelines whom, we hope, will be persuaded to join us, to contribute to a model, a lifestyle, artists and writers generally share, experience, and live nearly every day of their lives.

The objective, too, is to set the stage for change. Locally and on a broader basis. Art matters. More than lip service, art matters when people, artists, creative practitioners, come together to eat, drink, leave their hard-earned cash on the counters and tables of what is a relatively small town. Cash as hard evidence that more is required, wanted, needed.

And hence, one can hope for more support. More support means more and more profound change. One that improves the quality of residents and visitors. To live as to art through wit, learning, debate, dedication, plain hard work, and sometimes inspiration. Art as life, life as art.

For participants, a chance to immerse themselves in their own work, their own vision – their own vision in what, we hope to bring, a new light, angle or perspective.

That participants return, that an umarked path becomes a beaten path, real or virtual, is – finally – not the least objective. What networking is about, or more simply – just friends, partners in a common cause.

The world as a better place.
